Welcome to Our Studio!
Ballet training for all ages and all levels.
Founded in 1991 by Karla Sweeney, St. Croix Ballet has become one of the Twin Cities top ballet studios.
The year-round program includes two full-length ballets -- The Nutcracker and a spring show (past shows have included Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Coppelia); a three-week summer intensive that includes modern, character, jazz, ballet, and Pilates; a Summer Gala performance in Stillwater's picturesque Pioneer Park as well as periodic Master Classes by guest artists and intensives throughout the year, that include character dance.
In 2013, Susan Hovey took over as Director of the studio from founder Karla Sweeney, who retired due to a gallant 14-year ongoing battle with late-stage breast cancer. The very capable teaching staff utilize the Vaganova pedagogy and syllabus as the foundation of the studio's training. Recently, 'Ms. Susan' attended an intensive at Arts Ballet Theater in Miami, Florida, taught by faculty members from the Vaganova Ballet Academy in St. Petersburg, Russia. Ms. Susan's comments on the intensive were "while there is always much to learn from the Vaganova world to build upon at our own studio's program, I went away from the week very excited and validated that the training at St. Croix Ballet is simply tops -- as is evidenced by the quality of dancer we produce."
